The Shannon-Erne canal ( Uiscebhealach na Sionainne is na hÉirne) connects the River Shannon in the Republic of Ireland to the River Erne in Northern Ireland. The canal was constructed between 1846 and 1860, with the name "Ballinamore and Ballyconn".
