The Valley Ouche
Burgundy Canal
Chauffeured transfers from Paris, of course!
To begin your journey in style, one of the Prosperité crew will meet your party at either Paris, Lyon or Geneva at 2 pm, or in Dijon at 4 pm, and escort you by private minibus to the barge, moored in the tiny village of Plombieres-les-Dijon.
ETA is from 5 pm - 6 pm.
Our traditional champagne reception awaits you. Meet the crew, unpack and relax, perhaps taking a gentle walk as the sun sets, before your first gourmet dinner on board.
A private chateau experience
This morning we will cruise from Plombieres-les-Dijon to Gissey-sur-Ouche: Explore the towpath or relax on the deck or in the hot tub, and wonder at the beauty, flora and fauna in view.
After lunch on board, we will visit the Chateau d'Arcelot, the first neo-classical castle of Burgundy. Madame la Comtesse de Loisy, the owner of the chateau, welcomes us personally before we take a private tour of the beautiful grounds and savour some homemade gourmet specialities. We'll then return to Prosperité where the chef will present another elegant dinner onboard.
Dijon, the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy
We begin the day with a morning cruise through the peaceful countryside. After lunch on board, we will visit some of the hidden gems of Dijon, the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy. Throughout the town, there is an array of beautiful boutiques, public gardens, ancient buildings and of course, bistros, all enticing us to enjoy authentic French life. Enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of the ancient capital of the Dukes of Burgundy, before we return to Prosperité.
After an early evening stroll, it's time for our cocktails before dinner.
Take your time to relax this morning while once again enjoying the beautiful scenery as we cruise. Why not join the Captain in the wheelhouse to see how it's done, or the chef in the open galley for an informal demonstration?
After lunch on board, we set off in the private minibus to journey through the stunning vineyards of the Cote d'Or, arriving in Beaune, the region's wine capital. Our tour guide takes us to the world-famous immaculately preserved Hospice, the Hotel Dieu, a hospital dating back to Medieval times which was still in use during the 20th century.
The main hall, chapel and pharmacy are particularly fascinating.
In the inner courtyard, you can admire the beautiful roof tiles, an emblem of Burgundy.
We'll return to the Prosperité for aperitifs and appetizers followed by dinner on board.
Exclusive family-owned vineyard visit
Salut! as we say in Burgundy! This morning we visit a boutique winery, the Domaine Amiot-Servelle, producing Premier Cru vintages with organically-farmed grapes. Stroll through the stunning vineyards while we discover the ancient art of wine-growing, before a hosted wine tasting.
We'll return to the Prosperité for lunch and our afternoon cruise. You may like to take a walk or cycle ride to build up an appetite for this evening's dinner ashore in the beautiful Abbaye de la Bussiere, an ancient Cistercian abbey, with a beautiful garden and an award-winning gourmet bistro.
Quaint medieval village overlooking the Burgundy Canal
What better way to end our week than a final morning cruise in the beautiful countryside, followed by an afternoon exploring the hilltop village, Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, including a walking tour of the chateau. With some of the best views in Burgundy, the fairytale castle towers high above the valley below.
Return to Prosperité for sunset cocktails and canapes, ahead of the Captain's Dinner.
Au Revoir
After breakfast on board, it will be time to depart at 9 am for your return to the designated drop-off point.
We hope you enjoyed your cruise aboard Prosperité. Bon Retour!

The barge, our captain and his team were the absolute best and everyone in our group loved the experience. The service was amazing as were the accommodations on the barge. Everything was beyond expectation, including the tours by our wonderful guide, Armelle. The menus, wine selections and daily cheeses were impeccably presented and thoroughly enjoyed. It was a dream trip and we could not have asked for anything more perfect!!!
