Testimonials for Prosperite

Stephanie R, USA; Cruised September 2019

5 stars for the Prosperity barge, the Burgundy Canal and the Hotels Afloat experience!

Bonjour Emma,
We had an absolutely wonderful trip on the Prosperite and I cannot thank you enough for your assistance and great follow through with all the details!!!

The barge, our captain and his team were the absolute best and everyone in our group loved the experience. The service was amazing as were the accommodations on the barge. Everything was beyond expectation, including the tours by our wonderful guide, Armelle. The menus, wine selections and daily cheeses were impeccably presented and thoroughly enjoyed. It was a dream trip and we could not have asked for anything more perfect!!!

About the barge "Prosperite"

About the hotel barge "Prosperite"

The Prosperite is a stunning barge.
Designed by an American hotelier in 2003, the barge offers a truly ultra-deluxe experience while reflecting a relaxed, contemporary lifestyle.

The four, 270 square foot cabins, with ceiling heights of 6ft. 9in. to 7ft., can be configured with one king size bed or two twins.
The en-suite bathrooms are equally stylish and spacious, with brand new showers and bathtubs, as well as complimentary bathrobes.
Each cabin has a sitting area with a desk.
During the day, either relax in the saloon with its leather furniture, or enjoy the view from the sundeck, where you can take a dip in the Jacuzzi.
Why not watch the chef at work in the demonstration kitchen, while you enjoy drinks, snacks and desserts from the 'open refrigerator'?
Perhaps you'll pick up some tips that will be the envy of your next dinner guests...
The separate dining room is both elegant and refined with picture windows, top quality furnishings and antiques throughout.

Home from home facilities:
iPad for passengers' use and docking stations for iPhones
Wi-Fi throughout

Cruising between Plombieres les Dijon and Vandenesse en Auxois on the Burgundy canal

Cruise map for Prosperite

Sunday: Paris, Lyon, Geneva or Dijon to Plombieres-les-Dijon
A member of the Prosperite crew will meet your party at one pick up location in central Paris, Lyon or  Geneva at 2pm,  or Dijon at 4pm,  and then chauffeur you via Mercedes minivan to the barge, at anchor in the petite port of Plombieres-les-Dijon, located outside the larger town of Djon.
You'll be welcomed by the traditional champagne reception, and enjoy the first of many gourmet dinners on board.

Monday: Dijon to Fleurey sur Ouche
Where Medieval Monks Made Wine
Prosperite leaves Dijon, heading on to the Burgundy canal for a tranquil morning cruise through the first of many locks.
After lunch, devote the afternoon to an introduction to the Cote D'Or wine region lying south of the canal.
First, we'll drive through the vineyards and villages of the Route des Grand Crus on the way to Clos de Vougeot, a 12th century chateau where Cistercian monks learnt the art of wine making.
Marvel at the ancient wine presses and soak in the ambiance of this elegant chateau surrounded by vineyards.
We return to Prosperite, now moored in Fleurey-sur-Ouche.

Tuesday: Fleurey sur Ouche to Gissey-sur-Ouche
Join the locals at the Dijon Market
This morning we'll drive to Dijon for a morning devoted to this lovely town.
We'll walk the historic district, with its colourful tiled rooftop buildings, and then stop at the Covered Food Market, which was designed by Gustave Eiffel!
A vast selection of local produce, fish, cheeses, bread, baked good and delicious delicacies bring the bustling market to life.
There will be time to browse in the tiny boutiques lining the cobbled streets, too.
Then it's back to Prosperite for lunch and an afternoon cruise to Gissey-sur-Ouche.
Why not take one of the barge's bikes for a meander along the tow path, or indeed a nearby village or two?
Dinner on board ends this wonderful day.

Wednesday: Gissey-sur-Ouche to La Bussiere-sur-Ouche
Dinner at a Michelin-Starred Restaurant
A short morning cruise to Le Bussiere-sur-Ouche begins this eventful day.
After lunch, begin with a quick stop at "La Ferme du Poisset", a nearby farm which produces very fine goat cheese, which we'll be tasting!
Then on to the adorable village of Chateauneuf-en-Auxois perched high on a hill overlooking the canal.
Here is an enchanting old chateau - very simple but with history and ghosts around every corner.
Then walk the cobbled streets of the village and browse in the craft shops.
Then we return to Prosperite where there will be time to prepare for dinner at Abbaye de la Bussiere, a former Cistercian Abbey now immaculately restored into a hotel and Michellin-starred restaurant.
Bon appetit!

Thursday: La Bussiere-sur-Ouche to Pont d'Ouche
Medieval Hospice in Beaune - Plus Shopping!
This morning we cruise deeper into the Ouche Valley to Pont d'Ouche.
This is a great time to cycle, walk or simply relax on deck and watch scenes of great beauty float by.
After lunch, it's back into the Mercedes Minivan for a cruise high-point: An excursion to Beaune.
This enchanting town is the wine capital of Cote d'Or: underneath its streets lie hundreds of miles of wine cellars.
Visit the 15th century hospital Hotel Dieu, which is gorgeously preserved and provides a unique glimpse of life in the Middle Ages.
There may be time for an impromptu winetasting, to browse the shops or enjoy a cafe in the square.
Then its back to Prosperite to relive the day at dinner on board.

Friday: Pont d'Ouche to Vandenesse en Auxois
The ultimate French Wine Tasting Experience
Our final morning cruise takes Prosperite to Vandenesse-en-Auxois.
Take a last, long morning to relax!
Then it's back to the Cote d'Or vineyards, passing through colourful villages on the way to a cellar tour/winetasting at Domaine Prieur-Brunet in Santenay.
Return to yur barge - now your home from home - for cocktails and the festive Captain's Dinner, to end your Prosperite cruise in style!

Saturday: Return to Paris
