Gouda to Delft
Wednesday
Our cultural immersion continues today.  A visit to a vodka distillery, Ketel One, begins the day.  After passing through Rotterdam, the world's largest port, we continue to the beautiful town of Delft. It was here in 1602 that the Dutch East India Company began, the first joint-stock company in the world.  The world-famous artist Jan Vermeer was born in Delft in 1632 and spent much of his working life there.
A visit to the Delft factory is fascinating and instructive, as we learn how this pottery is made.
There will be ample time to explore this historic Dutch city in the afternoon.
We return to La Nouvelle Etoile to enjoy dinner aboard.

Delft to Oude Wetering
Thursday
We continue our voyage along the canals passing by Leiden, a popular university town.  The university was founded by Prince William of Orange in 1575. Many Pilgrims lived here before setting off to discover the New World.  We cross the Brasemmer Lakes to Oude Wetering, a perfect mooring for lunch.  For gardens and non-gardeners alike, this afternoon's visit to the Keukenhof Gardens delights and fascinates. Enjoy 70 acres of stunning spring flowers, including narcissus, hyacinths and tulips of every colour and genus.
Dinner on board.

Oude Wetering to Haarlem
Friday
For early risers, the day begins with a trip to the world's largest flower auction in Aalsmeer, where an incredible 10 billion flowers are sold each year. We return to La Nouvelle Etoile to continue our cruise to Haarlem.  Along the way, we can visit the Cruquius Museum. Dating from 1846, the pumping station is a fine example of neo-Gothic architecture.
What could be more fitting to end our cruise than a visit to the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem?  The internationally acclaimed collection of Old Masters represents the Dutch Golden Age in all its glory.
We return to the barge to relax and reminisce over the beauty of the flowers and fine art.
Enjoy our Captain's Farewell Dinner aboard.
