Just want to let you know how much we enjoyed our trip on Finesse.  The barge was beautifully appointed, the amenities were excellent, and the crew was top-notch.  The trip exceeded our expectations.  The captain, Matthew Price was superb, and Antoine, the pilot, Robert, the chef, and Cat (and Catia) the hostesses, were all just wonderful - professional, courteous, and totally charming.  The meals and the wines were out of this world!  It was truly a fabulous trip.
We hope there's another barge trip in our future.

Best regards,
Lynn & Bob T

About Finesse barge cruises

Luxury barge Finesse

Welcome aboard Finesse, an ultra-deluxe barge for up to 8 guests cruising in Southern Burgundy.

A vessel built to provide luxurious accommodation, the barge has a modern and light interior, the panoramic windows giving fantastic open views of the landscape.

Inside, the salon is tastefully decorated with contemporary furnishings. There is plenty of space to relax, and a dining area looking onto the demonstration galley should you wish to pick up some tips from the Masterchef.

The sundeck is the ideal place to relax, but also an alfresco lunch, or a dip in the spa pool at the end of the day.
A sun canopy ensures that you can dine outside while protected from the sun!

After a day cruising and exploring the region with our guides, you're guaranteed a good night's sleep as the air-conditioned suites are exceptionally spacious (264 sq feet) and can be in twin or double-bedded configuration, as you please.

The Finesse is the perfect barge aboard which to discover the peaceful waterways of Southern Burgundy, the vineyards and some of the richest historic sites and towns including Beaune, Dijon and the ancient Roman city of Autun.

Saint Julien-sur-Dheune
Sunday
Guests are met in Dijon, the capital of Burgundy, and transferred to Saint Julien-sur-Dheune by private chauffeured minibus.  Meet the crew and enjoy a Champagne Welcome before settling into your suite.  There will be time to wander along the towpath or relax on board before Dinner is served.

Saint Julien-sur-Dheune to Saint Léger-sur-Dheune
Monday
This morning you will be able to admire the work of the Pilot and his shipmate as they steer the barge along the Canal du Centre past quaint villages and through undulating countryside and 11 locks before arriving at our destination, Saint Léger-sur-Dheune.
After lunch, we will visit the 14th-century Château de Germolles, reputedly the best-preserved residence of the Dukes of Burgundy.  Admire the Ducal chapel and medieval wall paintings followed by a stroll in the romantic gardens.
Dinner aboard.

Saint Léger-sur-Dheune to Remigny
Tuesday
While Burgundy is often associated with medieval times, today we will visit the stunning town of Autun, founded by the Romans as Augustodonum. Many original features remain including Roman gates and arches, ruins of the temple and a 17,000-seat amphitheatre.  The cathedral overlooking the town is well worth the climb too!
We return to the barge for lunch and can then sit back and relax. At the same time, Finesse continues her journey passing typical Burgundian villages including the wine village of Santenay, before arriving at Remigny, our evening mooring.
It's a perfect rural spot for Dinner on board.

Remigny to Rully
Wednesday
After breakfast, we begin the day with a drive through the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune.  On arriving in Beaune, there will be time to visit the world-renowned Hospice de Beaune with its stunning glazed tiled roof, hospital ward, adjacent chapel, pharmacy and kitchen displays. Enjoy some free time to explore the many boutiques before we take a short ride to our lunch date at the Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Montrachet, in the heart of the Puligny & Montrachet vineyards. Bon appetit!
After lunch, we will return to Finesse for our gentle afternoon cruise.  Watch the world go by, snooze, or take a stroll as Finesse cruises past the market town of Chagny, and on to Rully.
Dinner on board.

Rully to Fragnes
Thursday
Today there is plenty of time to relax again this morning as we cruise toward the village of Fragnes.  You may like to cycle alongside.
After lunch, it's time for a private wine tasting in the delightful 17th-century Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, which has been in the same family, the Devillard, for five generations!
We'll return to Finesse in time for our usual aperitif, before dinner aboard.

Fragnes to Saint Jean-de-Losne
Friday
From the winding Canal, today we join the majestic River Saône for our cruise passing through the town of Chalon-sur-Saone with its impressive bridges spanning the river, and the delightful small ports of Verdun-sur-le-Doubs and Seurre, before reaching Saint Jean-de-Losne, our final mooring.
After lunch, we visit the world-famous Clos de Vougeot to tour the cellars before venturing on to another long-established cellar for a private tasting.  Enjoy the scenic drive back to the barge for our Captain's Farewell Dinner during which there will be time to look back over the week aboard.

Saint-Jean-de-Losne
Saturday
After a hearty breakfast, guests are transferred by private chauffeured minibus to the choice of their location in Dijon. "Au revoir!"
