ITINERARY
Paris to Clamecy
Sunday Transfer from Paris at 1.30 pm to L’Art de Vivre. Champagne Welcome. Exploring Clamecy, the logging capital of the Nivernais canal, enjoy the 13th century cathedral and views of the River Yonne.
Clamecy to Asnois
Monday Visit the infamous 18th century model farm of Miserey for a guided tour by the owner, Mme Dhuick. Tasting of a variety of farm produce including Foie Gras accompanied by a fine Chablis. Enjoy your first cruising along the Yonne.
Asnois to Dirol
Tuesday At Asnois visit “Le Bouc qui Fume”, a chapel -based antique/curiosity shop. Afternoon excursion to the Chateau of Bazoches, home of military figure Marechal Vauban; Richard the Lionheart was once entertained in this castle.
Dirol to Chateau de la Chaise
Wednesday Morning visit to Les Caves at Tannay to taste some of the regions finest Chardonnay's. Delightful drive back to the barge before cruising to Chitry, passing through Dirrol with it's two Van Gogh style hand-operated lift bridges.
Chateau de la Chaise to Sardy
Thursday Wonders await you at Vezelay, with its Roman Basilica of St Mary Magdalene. Excellent shopping: crafts, museums, local exhibitions, wine cellars and art galleries. Afternoon cruise to Sardy followed by dinner ashore in a local 'Auberge'.
Sardy to Baye
Friday A relaxing day as you watch the barge crew negotiate an engineers masterpiece, a 16 lock flight leading to the summit of the Nivernais Canal. Visit the craft shops housed in the lock houses. Captain’s Farewell Dinner aboard.
Baye to Paris
Saturday Disembark after breakfast for the return to Paris.
