Guests are met at Beziers or Narbonne for a private chauffeured transfer by minibus to join Clair de Lune, moored at Colombiers. Champagne and Canapés are the order of the day, as you are introduced to the crew and discover the barge.
There will be time for a short cruise before your first delicious dinner on board.
Monday: Colombiers to Capestang
After a breakfast of fresh pastries, fruit and more, there's time to sit back and enjoy the views from the sundeck, or walk or cycle along the Canal du Midi as we cruise to Capestang. After lunch, join us on an informative excursion to the impressive hilltop village of Minerve. The 12th century Cathar Fort was besieged by Simon de Montford in 1210, and the bloody Cathar rebellion is recreated in miniature in the musem. The views from this point are simply stunning. On the way back to the barge, enjoy a private wine tasting at the Domaine Massamier La Mignarde, producer of fine Minervois wines.
Dinner on board.
Tuesday: Capestang to La Croisade
Today we will visit Narbonne, the Roman Mediterranean capital where the Visigoth monarchs once lived. Explore the indoor market Les Halles de Narbonne, the Archibishop's Palace and the Roman Horreum. Narbonne is a city of contrast, a bustling town with a relaxed atmosphere. There will be time for a traditional lunch in one of the restaurants close to Les Halles before we rejoin Clair de Lune for a relaxing afternoon cruise to La Croisade, for dinner on board.
Wednesday: La Croisade to Le Somail
No visit to the south of France would be complete without an excursion to Carcassonne. This magnificent Camelot setting, perched high above the Canal, is the most complete fortified medieval city in existence. Count the 52 turrets and marvel at the port cullis and other fortifications, which kept this city safe for many centuries. Step back in time, enjoy the views and walk the ramparts to take some fantastic photos!
This evening, we enjoy our last dinner on board.
Thursday: Le Somail
After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye, as our chauffeur takes you to the location of your choice in Narbonne.
