I remember my 25th birthday as if it were yesterday, but how can it be possible that the end of the 2024 season marks my quarter century in the barging world?
Time certainly flies when you’re having fun!
How do I do it, you ask? I have a few golden rules for myself and the Hotels Afloat team:
1 Always be polite, even in difficult situations
2 Treat each potential guest equally
3 Know your clients, and be able to find a folder while answering the phone and typing an email: The office can be very busy at times!
But of course, it’s not always easy. So what keeps me going?
The knowledge that I’m making peoples’ dreams come true, of course, and when we receive glowing feedback.

Having a great time … First rainy day today, but no biggie … not stopping us enjoying ourselves. We are currently going through the Arzviller lift which is an amazing experience. Incredible … now we are lifted up (or down) in our boat in a lift which, before it was built in 1968, used to involve 10 hours and 17 locks to get to the desired level. Now it takes 4 minutes!
Our trip is a joy. We love the different landscapes, villages, the early morning dash to the nearest boulangerie … many thanks for helping make it happen.
