Hotels Afloat & the letter “H”

While a lesson explaining the various forms of the silent ‘h’ in the french language is far too complicated, how about a simple recipe for french beans?
I guarantee you’ll love this!

Ingredients:

  • Fresh green beans
  • One clove of garlic
  • Rock salt
  • Small pack of “Lardons”… Chopped pieces of bacon
  • 25g butter
  • Pepper to taste

Bring a pan of lightly salted water to the boil
Prepare the beans by washing them thoroughly, then cut into 4-5 cm lengths using a diagonal cut
Boil for 5 minutes: Do not over cook!
Plunge the beans into cold water, then drain
Melt butter in a frying pan and add crushed garlic;  Cook gently for 3 minutes
In a separate pan, fry the lardons until well-done to crispy, depending upon your taste;  remove from heat.
Add the beans to the garlic-butter mix, and warm through.  The beans should remain ‘crisp’.
Add the bacon,  a sprinkling of rock salt and ground pepper, and serve immediately
