Affleurdo

Affleurdo started life as a Dutch tjalk in 1898, and has been converted to provide comfortable accomodation for up to 4 guests.
What better way to explore the magnificent scenery of the Lot valley than while sipping a glass of local wine, while your captain Richard negociates his way along the Lot.
Having cruised around the world in a sail boat, Richard and Francine will be happy to share anecdotes with you, and their enthusiasm for living on the water and the Lot valley.



Aboard the air-conditioned Affleurdo, guests can enjoy a true antidote to stress, cruising at a slow pace, enjoying shore visits, and of course, tasting the local wines and cognac.
Bicyles, a TV and DVD player are all available.
Each day is as unique as Affleurdo herself, whichever of our cruises you select: Freedom, Bastide or Wine and Gastronomy.

Freedom Cruise: Includes the barge and captain, 6 days of sailing, six nights on board, fuel, gas and taxes all included.
Fresh bread and croissants will be available each morning for you.

Bastide Cruise:includes the barge, captain and hostess, 6 days of sailing, six nights on board,six dinners, six breakfasts, Visit to Villeneuve sur Lot by Barouche, and all entry tickets, fuel, gas and taxes all included.

Wine and Gastronomy Cruise:includes the barge, captain and hostess, 6 days of sailing, six nights on board,two dinners on board,4 dinenrs in carefully selected restaurants, six breakfasts, Visit to Villeneuve sur Lot by Barouche, and all entry tickets, Visits and tastings of three AOC: Buzet and Marmande, and one AOC Armagnac,fuel, gas, taxes and transfers from Agen station all included.

Accomodation is comfortable and consists of:
Two identical ensuite cabins positioned apart on the boat so as to maximise privacy.
Each cabin has a double bed measuring 150cm x 200cm, a large wardrobe, plenty of drawers, sliding storage boxes under the bed, an FM radio, opening window, carpetted floor, air conditioning, radiator.
The bathrooms are well equipped with an electric toilet, handbasin with thermostatic control taps, shower,opening window, two mirrors, hair-dryer and radiator.
We supply towels and bathrobes.

ITINERARY
Sunday
The following is a sample itinerary as the Affleurdo offers the opportunity to have some say in where you cruise, where you stop off, etc.

Your captain will be ready to welcome you aboard at any time from 4pm to 7pm
After settling in to your cabins, enjoy a welcome Cocktail followed by dinner aboard.

Monday
After breakfast, Affleurdo begins her cruise toward Lustrac, and you will be able to visit the Fortified windmill and weir.
After lunch, enjoy a guided walking tour of the Medieval village, Penne d'Agenais.
After our afternoon cruise, we will moor at Chateau Rogé in the countryside.
Dinner aboard.

Tuesday
Today we will cruise toward Villeneuve sur Lot, and will pass through an impressive lock, lifting the boat 13 meters.
Visit the Baside in horse drawn carriage, and lunch ashore.
In the afternoon, you may wish to visit the Chateau de Favols where the owner gives a guided tour.
The day draws to a close with a wine tasting at the Lou Gaillot vineyards, followed by dinner at Casseneuil.

Wednesday
This morning, take the chance to explore Casseneuil before we set sail towards St Livrade sur Lot.
At Fontgrave we will see religious artwork of the 17th century, followed by a visit to the Tuillerie, to see at first hand the making of Tourtiere, a regional pastry well worth tasting despite the calories!


Thursday
Today we will visit Le Tempe sur Lot, and the world famous water lily gardens.
Lunch will be at Rives de Plantier followed by a cruise to Castelmoron sur Lot, where we will pass through another lock changing the level again by 10 meters.
Time for a walk along the gorge for a panoramic view of the valley.


Friday
This morning we visit the market town of Granges sur Lot, and will have time to visit the museum and for some prune tasting!
Our cruise will take us to Clairac, one of the oldest and largest ports on the river.
After exploring the town, we will continue our cruise toward Aiguilon, where the Lot joins the Garonne.
Captain's farewell dinner.

Saturday
After a typically french breakfast, time to say goodbye and 'A bientôt'.
